Aloe Vera is in fact a member of the onion + garlic family and has been found in carvings on Temple walls in Egypt as early as the 4th Millenium B.C.

In John ch.19 v.:39-40 Nicodemus is said to have brought a mixture of Myrrh and Aloes to the burial chamber of Jesus!
v39."And there came also Nicodemus which at first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of Myrrh and Aloes about a hundred pounds weight"
v40. "They then took the body of Jesus and wound it in linen clothes with the spices as the manner of Jews is to bury"
